Path to being a Software Craftsman

About Me

SO my real name is Aaron A. I have gone by digicyc since 1998 or by DigitalCyclone. Back when I was hacking to acquire any and all information I could on my obsession with computers and Computer connectivity. I lived in a very small town where a single T1 trunk was all there was for internet connectivity. I got lucky enough to work at a shop at 15 which so happened to be a combination of a RadioShack, Pager services, and the only ISP in Town.

After highschool I worked directly with the University of Utah in helping their ECommerce class. I was to act as the evil hacker in which I would come in and hack all their websites and show case the importance of online Security. It was such a fun experience to be an 18 year old stomping on others sand castles. Of course we kept backups of their original sites that were hosted on the local network.

I then got a job with Cisco Systems where I originally was setup to help guide the creation of Enterprise sized networks and quickly moved up as a Team Lead for escalations and training of a team. I was allowed to host our own Linux server where I ran a webpage with a handful of built in tools that I had created to guide the team in common questions and designs. I would often give talks at our local 2600 hacker meetups on things like setting up a PBX system and hacking palm pilots to act as IP Phones. I ran into someone here that convinced me to help them with a startup business in 2006 with building and printing custom greeting cards. I put all my effort on the printing side as it was a painful manual process at first.
